The Starfish

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” “Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said ” I made a difference for that one.”
Proverbs 24:12 "Once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know and holds us responsible to act."

About Us

About Us

We are Pat and Tammy Dwyer, and have seven wonderful children between us. We are yet again on another adoption journey, to bring home Joy, a 9/10 yr old girl from Asia.   Many have asked us, Why?  There are so many orphans in the world, do you really think you are making a difference?  Like  the starfish story, it matters to this one!  We feel God has called us to adopt, and pray that our children will be adoption ambassadors for the orphans of this world.
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world currupt you. James 1:27 NLT

A life of discipleship does not merely advocate for the care of the orphans, but requires it!  We are adopted as sons and daughters in God's family through our faith in Christ, and each of us have the opportunity to touch the lives of children in need. We feel called to adopt.  However, we know that not all christians are called to adopt, but all can care for the orphan.
We thank God, for His willingness to work through our imperfections to accomplish His purposes in the lives of these children.
